In September 2011, the Souther Co-operative, in collaboration with University of Sussex Student’s Union, opened a new store in Bramber House.

The gathered crowd watched the CEO of Southern Co-operative, Mark Smith, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, Clare Mackie, and David Cichon, President of the University of Sussex Students’ Union, speak about the store then cut the ribbon to officially open the store.

The Co-operative have gone into partnership with the Students’ Union on this project meaning that in the long term, the Students’ Union will manage the store and students will be hired and trained to staff it.
